The Hideaways Club launched in 2007, with the idea of buying 1m homes within 4-6 flying hours of London.

Members buy shares in the company and then share in the property appreciation, as well as having several weeks of usage rights each year.

Overall the club plans to buy 100 homes.

A member share costs 207k with annual dues of 12k.

Here's a Holiday Pitch from the Hideaways Club - SLM is an interesting acronym:

HAVING A SLM? (SIGNIFICANT LIQUIDITY MOMENT)

Or how to spend that annual bonus, proceeds from the sale of your business, inheritance or lottery win

So you have had your annual bonus, sold your business, or perhaps even inherited some wealth, or luckier still, won the lottery. Now what? There is no shortage of wealth managers and private bankers waiting to help you spend the money but most financial advisors would advise taking time to decide. Chances are most people will want to splash out on a few luxuries.

Rather than a mega carat piece of jewellery, a fabulous fur made to order, a few 24 carat gold bars, or even a customised Bentley Continental, what about something really different, useful and luxurious? Splash out £200,000 on membership of The Hideaways Club, an exclusive private residence owners’ club and you have your holidays sorted forever AND it’s an investment.

Membership gives you the right to stay in any of their properties all within four or five hours flying time from London. In their first year of operation they have already achieved 40 founder members and 13 homes with an average value of £1 million+. Within five years they aim to have 100 properties in 25 different locations and 600 members.

When it comes to holidaying as a member of The Hideaways Club – you won’t have to worry about packing the bed linen, books, car seats or travel cots. The £12,000 per year management fee, or Annual Cost Contribution (ACC), gives members the assurance of turning up at their chosen destination, via free airport transfers, to find food in the fridge, beds made, the pool full, clean and heated, lawns mown and everything in tiptop order. The local concierge service will also lay on anything else required, whether it be a paella party or a night in a Bedouin tent in the Moroccan desert.

And just think, holidays need never be a problem again. Over a year your points, depending on the time you take your holidays, should entitle you to around four or five weeks abroad and enough for a week’s skiing in the winter, two weeks in the sun in August, a week at a half term as well as some winter sun at Christmas. You will have all the benefits of enjoying a private home in a variety of locations, without the hassle of managing the property yourself and feeling you have to return to the same place every holiday because you own it, let alone the worry of leaving it empty for most of the year.

On average The Hideaways Property villas average 2,500 sq ft and sleep up to 10 people, complete with pool and plasma screen. “We estimate that membership of the Hideaways Club would be around 60% cheaper than if you were to go out and rent comparable properties on the open market,” says CEO Stephen Wise. And after three years, members are free to sell, receiving 80% of their share of the current value of the property portfolio.
